Warm day wandering around when, upon chance, see girls dancing with such exuberance, had to stop and stare. Despite it being rude…
A trip into Walter Schott’s Three Dancing Maidens
But upon closer look, ‘twas nothing more than fixed beauty in the form of sculptures. More officially known as the Samuel Untermyer fountain in Central Park. Apparently, in honor of some famous lawyer of age past. How that connects to lovely ladies, one can’t know for certain.
Nevertheless, the maidens dance together, happily without a care in their conscious, mind you. But, why? This author speculates that the man is returning after a long hiatus. Papa, perhaps?
What’s definitely great in being around this water fountain and statue is the tranquility in many aspects: visually, sound and smell. Even when there’s a crowd around, people respect the expected silence in the area.
The water springs out gently and heard all around. Bees and various other insects jump in the air from spot to spot. The whole scene is surrounded by flowers and natural sounds such that this becomes an instant oasis. Further enhancing the central focus of this masterpiece area so by the time you enter, you can almost relate to the cheerful mood of the girls.
